I started a bit of body work on the bus. It’s slow going because I haven’t had that much time to work on it recently. I also decided to build a new dining table for the interior and since I had to do that, I selected a new laminate for the tops of the dining table and the flip up table. This was a pretty simple process; I just cut the table to size, sanded the edges smooth and attached the laminate to the top using old fashioned contact cement. Once that was done, I routered the edges with a laminate trimming bit in the router and sanded them with a slight radius to make if feel better to the touch. I then stained and varnished the exposed wood and mounted the hardware. Next thing to do for the table is to make a new folding table leg. Something with a bit more substance I think.
I also developed a leak in my brake fluid reservoir hose. I purchased a clear vinyl hose form the hardware store to replace the brittle and cracked original when I re-did the brakes. It worked great for several weeks. Unfortunately, this vinyl was not completely impervious to brake fluid and the ends, under the clamps, became very soft and started to drip fluid. I found a piece of heater hose that fit perfectly and installed that. I cut off a piece and I have it soaking in brake fluid to be sure it is not affected by the harsh chemicals in the fluid. It’s been in there for about two weeks now and it is working great so far. No drips yet!
