Over the last few days, I have been cleaning parts, media blasting and etch priming engine tins and generally cleaning and prettying up the engine for re-assembly. My parts came in from Appletree Automotive, so I am ready to do the re-assembly as soon as things are cleaned and painted.

Hi Paul,
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't get back to you. I just discovered there were actually comment! I had no idea how to get to them, or if I even had any. Thanks for the nice comments. The paint I used was an acrylic enamel with a hardener. I get it from the local auto parts place that stocks the stuff. The name on the can is "2nd Dimension" I have done body work on and off for years, and I have been pretty impressed with this stuff. I have painted several vehicles with it and I am planning to paint the bus with it as well. It covers well and is pretty easy to apply. Just make sure you have a good respirator! Not just a dust mask, the one that filters the VOC's out. After sand blasting the [arts, I applied a coat of etching primer (rattle can) and then a light coat of sandable primer. I then lightly sanded the parts with Scotchbrite (fine) and sprayed on the paint. I got some sand in the paint, but I wasn't too careful with the engine parts.
